| End: | Tuesday, February 26, 2008 02:00 PM |
| Location: | Mercatus Center Board Room |
The Social Change Project at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University presents a Brown Bag Lecture USAID’s Commercial Legal and Institutional Reform (CLIR) Analysis: A Development Approach to Law by USAID Senior Law and Development Advisor Wade Channell and USAID Senior Commercial Law Reform Advisors Nick Klissas and Charles Schwartz.
The presentation will focus on the US Agency for International Development's (USAID) approach to diagnosing problems with commercial, legal, and institutional reform (CLIR) in developing and transition countries. The methodology presented by Channell, Klissas, and Schwartz is multidimensional, beginning with the system of black letter law and analyzing the implementing and supporting institutions that are necessary for that system to work. They will also discuss their use of this approach on categories provided in the World Bank’s Doing Business Index.
The presentation and the discussion session will be informal and everybody is welcome to participate. As always, no food or drink will be provided so please bring your lunch.
