One If By Land, Two If By Air: America’s Transportation Infrastructure Start: May 13, 2008 12:00 PM America's current infrastructure is beginning to show its age and new policies need to be implemented to fix the growing problems. Both the President and Congress have acknowledged that there are problems with our current aviation infrastructure and are looking for ways to lessen the costs associated with flight delays while maintaining the industry's impeccable safety record. In addition, the Minnesota bridge collapse brought America's poorly kept up roadway system to the nation's attention.

9th Annual Performance Report Scorecard Start: May 13, 2008 09:30 AM The Mercatus Center at George Mason University will host a panel discussion to release our Annual Performance Report Scorecard. The Scorecard sheds light on which of the 24 largest federal agencies are supplying vital information that citizens and their elected leaders need to make informed funding and policy decisions.

By Judge and Jury: Case Studies in Regulation by Litigation Start: May 9, 2008 12:00 PM In a special Capitol Hill Campus program, Dr. Bruce Yandle of Clemson University will present two case studies involving regulation by litigation, one on diesel engines and the other on tobacco products, to delve into the implications of regulatory lawsuits.

Diagnosing the Issues: Examining Health Care in America Start: April 29, 2008 12:00 PM The Mercatus Center at George Mason University will host a three-day course to explore current health care issues facing Congress and the economic incentives and rules that govern them.

Foundations of Capitalism Start: April 22, 2008 11:30 AM The Economics Department at George Mason University is offering a one-credit course for the Spring 2008 term entitled “Foundations of Capitalism.”  It will be taught by University of Arizona, Professor of Economics and Philosophy David Schmidtz who is a visiting scholar to the Mercatus Center.

Intellectual Property: Domestic and International Perspectives Start: April 16, 2008 12:00 PM To address some areas of recent concern, the Mercatus Center will host a two-day program on current intellectual property issues including international IP and the patent system.

Enter the Dragon Start: April 15, 2008 12:00 PM The Mercatus Center at George Mason University will host Dr. Christopher Lingle, visiting professor at the Institute for International Studies at Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok to explore the economic and institutional successes and shortcomings of Chinese development, and to address future challenges they face.

The Economic and Religious Systems of Virtual Worlds Start: April 2, 2008 12:30 PM The Mercatus Center at George Mason University presents a special Social Change Project Lecture: The Economic and Religious Systems of Virtual Worlds, a talk by William Bainbridge, adjunct professor at George Mason University.

Past, Present and Future: Monetary Policy Start: April 1, 2008 12:00 PM Monetary policy is developing and changing right before our eyes. These past few weeks the Federal Reserve Board has acted in ways it never before had and this has left some questions about the future of monetary policy. To address some of these concerns, the Mercatus Center is hosting a three day course on the past present and future of monetary policy.
