Senior Research Fellow Peter Boettke at London School of Economics

Mercatus Senior Research Fellow Peter Boettke was invited to be the 2006 F. A. Hayek Research Fellow at STICERD in the department of economics at the London School of Economics (LSE).
Professor Boettke is spending the month of October in residence and will use the time to work on three major projects that represent the focus of his individual research efforts at the moment--"The Collected Works of Israel Kirzner" (with Frederic Sautet), "Comparative Historical Political Economy," and "The Use of Knowledge in Economics" (with Frederic Sautet). Professor Boettke will also edit and finish his Sir Ronald Trotter Lecture that he presented in New Zealand in August. The Trotter Lecture is on "The Battle of Ideas in Economics and Public Policy."
While at LSE, Professor Boettke will be speaking at a variety of engagements throughout Europe, including:
- speaking at the 3rd Ludwig von Mises Symposium sponsored by the Institut Bruno Leoni in Italy from October 6-8,
- leading a discussion of the Hayek Society at LSE on "Intellectuals and Capitalism" on October 12,
- presenting two papers--"Comparative Historical Political Economy"and "The Use of Knowledge in Economics" at the University of Paris I on October 16,
- presenting his paper "Comparative Historical Political Economy" to Cambridge University's department of economics on October 23, and
- leading the discussion "Liberty and Power in 20th and 21st Century Economics and Public Policy" with students at the Institute of Economic Affairs on October 24.
This is the second time Boettke has visited LSE for an extended period of time. In 2004, Boettke was the Hayek Memorial Lecturer as well as the Hayek Fellow (read Professor Boettke's 2004 Hayek Memorial lecture here).
