Regulatory Studies Legal Intern
The Mercatus Center at George Mason University is seeking applications for the position of Legal Intern in Regulatory Studies. As a Mercatus Regulatory Studies Legal Intern, you will work closely with scholars in the Regulatory Studies Program, exploring market-based solutions to current regulatory policy issues and gaining the skills and experience necessary to effect policy change. Mercatus is dedicated to advancing knowledge of the impact of regulation on society and conducts careful and independent analyses employing contemporary economic and legal scholarship to assess regulatory actions from the perspective of the public interest, to enhance understanding of the costs and consequences of regulatory proposals, existing regulations, and the regulatory process.
The Legal Intern will assist senior scholars on various research and writing projects, including analysis of pending or existing regulations, as well as perform some routine administrative tasks.
Current first, second, or third year law students should apply. The legal internship runs for one semester, and is revolving. Hours are flexible. The legal internship is unpaid, but legal interns may receive academic credit through various law school programs.
Qualified candidates will have expressed interest in regulatory policy or related fields, exceptional interpersonal skills, and demonstrated interest and capabilities in working with both scholars and policymakers.
