Biography
Lawson Bader is a vice president at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. He oversees outreach programs for policy makers, specifically for congressional, state, and federal agency staff. Through the specific efforts of Capitol Hill Campus, Capital Campus, and the Government Accountability Project, Mercatus uses a wide network of scholars to teach and train congressional staff and senior agency officials to use economic analysis and market process tools to improve legislative and policy outcomes. Mr. Bader also ensures that the research conducted through the Mercatus Center’s Regulatory Studies Program and Global Prosperity Initiative is incorporated into appropriate educational venues.
Before coming to Mercatus in 1996, Mr. Bader spent nearly ten years in the policy arena. He did a tour on Capitol Hill as a staff member with the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee; analyzed trade, environment and energy policy for the law firm Pierson, Semmes & Finley; managed government relations for SRI International, and served as a senior policy analyst for the Washington International Corporate Circle.
Mr. Bader earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Wheaton College (IL) and a masters in public policy from The Johns Hopkins University.
