2007 Capital Campus California Fall Retreat: Ethics Considerations for Public Officials Filling Form 700
Travel, transportation, meals, and lodging will be provided for all 2007 Capital Campus California Fall Retreat participants by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, a non-profit organization exempt from taxation under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Capital Campus California programs are strictly educational and do not endorse or promote specific legislation or political candidates.
The purpose of the 2007 Capital Campus California Fall Retreat, made possible through a partnership between the Berkeley Center for Law, Business, and the Economy and the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, is to bridge the worlds of academic theory and public policy by hosting an overnight educational seminar for California’s senior legislative and administrative staff. The event is designed to foster exchange about important policy topics between scholarly experts and practitioners in order to bring about improved outcomes for all Californians.
Capital Campus California encourages Retreat participants to comply with the reporting and disclosure requirements set forth in the California Political Reform Act (Gov. Code sections 81000-91015) as interpreted by the California Fair Political Practices Commission.
Pursuant to Government Code 89506 (a)(2) payments made by the Mercatus Center for travel, transportation, lodging, and meals on behalf of public officials in connection with the 2007 Capital Campus California Fall Retreat are reportable, but not subject to the annual gift limit.
Each Retreat participant will receive an ethics advice document in their event registration materials.
For assistance concerning reporting requirements under the California Political Reform Act, call the Fair Political Practices Commission at (866) ASK-FPPC or visit www.fppc.ca.gov.
