Daniel Griswold on the G-20 Trade Summit

President Trump should work with the other G-20 leaders at the summit this week to lower barriers to trade and investment around the world, as every recent U.S. president has before him. If the president follows through on threats to impose duties on steel and other imported goods, it will invite retaliation and jeopardize the global economic recovery. Any trade conflict will also complicate U.S. efforts to lead on other global issues such as the fight against terrorism and nuclear proliferation.
