Christopher Russo

Monetary Policy

Christopher M. Russo was formerly a post-graduate research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, and a doctoral student in its Department of Economics. His research focuses on monetary economics and economic history. He is an expert on monetary policy, sovereign debt management, and financial market plumbing.

Prior to joining Mercatus, Mr. Russo spent his career advising top policymakers in the Federal Reserve System on these issues. He held roles on the Trading Desk of the New York Fed, and in Economic Research at the Chicago Fed.

Russo’s views have been published by National ReviewThe HillBarron’sMorning Consult, and other news outlets. He is a regular contributor to Discourse Magazine.

Russo holds a master’s degree in Financial Mathematics from the University of Chicago. He completed his undergraduate work in Mathematics and Economics at Rutgers University, New Brunswick.
