Giancarlo Ibárgüen S.

Giancarlo Ibarguen S. is a founding collaborator of the philosophical magazine Intuición. He was president-founder of the Asociación de Amigos of the Ludwig von Mises Library in 1991, and founding president of the grass-roots Asociación por el Poder Local (APOLO) also in 1991. He was member of the board of directors of the Asociación de Gerentes de Guatemala and the editorial board of the magazine Gerencia from 1992 to 1994.

His articles on economics and telecommunications have been published by Review of Law & Economics (US), Libertas (Argentina), Telecommunications Policy (Great Britain), the website of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the Social Science Research Network (SSRN) eLibrary. Contributor to the book “¡La Privatización: una oportunidad!” (CEES, 1992). Occasional collaborator for the monthly pamphlet Tópicos de Actualidad published by CEES. Occasional columnist MONEDA. His editorials have been published Siglo XXI, The Wall Street Journal and other international publications. Author of the basic memorandum used for the elaboration of Title IV of Guatemala’s 1996 Telecommunications Law concerning radio spectrum allocation and markets. Published the book in 2000 Los ensayos de Warren Buffett: Lecciones para inversionistas y gerentes by Lawerence A. Cunningham. Has organized colloquiums in Guatemala for Liberty Fund (Indianapolis, Indiana) about technology, patents, private property, Don Quixote, Robert Nozick, and Adam Smith.

Member of the Mont Pelerin Society, The Philadelphia Society, the Board of Trustees of Universidad Francisco Marroquín, and the Advisory Board of the Society for Philosophical Inquiry.
