The State of the Economy: Understanding 2016 with Bruce Yandle

Initial estimates for Q4 show GDP growth at 1.9%, a decrease from Q3’s strong numbers at 2.9%. That brings 2016 to a close at 1.6%, the weakest annual rate since 2011. What do these numbers tell us about the overall state of the economy? What can we expect in the future?

Dr. Bruce Yandle, Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Economics at Mercatus and Dean Emeritus at Clemson University, reviewed his latest quarterly report (released on March 1) and discussed the role of rising inflation rates, effects of regulation on economic growth, and deep economic differences between states and regions, with a special analysis of Kentucky.
