Catherine Herfeld is assistant professor of Social Theory and Philosophy of the Social Sciences at the University of Zurich. She is also an affiliated fellow with the F.A. Hayek Program for Advanced Study in Philosophy, Politics, & Economics.  She studied economics in Heidelberg and Berlin and philosophy of the social sciences at the London School of Economics. She earned her PhD at Witten/Herdecke University in 2013 and was postdoctoral fellow and assistant professor at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy as well as Guest Professor at the University of Vienna until February 2017. She has been a fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for the History of Science, at Columbia University, at Stanford University and at Duke University. Her research focus: history and philosophy of the social sciences, historical epistemology, social theory, and sociology of science.
