Aleezay Khaliq

Aleezay Khaliq is a PhD student in Sociology at George Mason University. She earned an MS in Economics from the University of Leicester and a BS in Economics from Lahore University of Management Sciences. She was a Visiting Dissertation Fellow during the 2022-2023 academic year, an Adam Smith Fellow during the 2021-2022 and 2019-2020 academic years, and a Don Lavoie Fellow during the 2020-2021 academic year. Her research focuses on belonging, integration, and community participation of young second-generation Muslim adults in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, examinging how belonging or lack of belonging is constructed through participation and engagement with mosques, campus organizations, and faith-based organizations.
