Johnathan Garcia is a PhD student in Religion at the University of Southern California. He earned a ThM in Systematic Theology, an MA in Preaching and Pastoral Ministry, and an MA in New Testament from Talbot School of Theology and a BA in Psychology from Biola University. He was an Adam Smith Fellow during the 2022-2023 academic year. His research investigates religion against the backdrop of the Mexican Revolution and how religious actors navigated capitalism and economic markets at the turn of the twentieth century.
