Kirstin Birkhaug

Kirstin Anderson Birkhaug is a PhD student in political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research interests include the history of political thought, with focuses on modern and American political thought. Within these areas, she has particular interest in topics like liberalism, federalism, localism, and individual and community flourishing broadly construed, as it relates to political and economic practices. Kirstin earned a BA in political science and business from Hope College. She was a Mercatus Center Don Lavoie Fellow during the spring 2021 semester and a Mercatus Center Adam Smith Fellow during the 2021-2022 academic year.
