Michael Promisel is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Coastal Carolina University. His research interests include drawing on ancient Greek, Medieval, and American political thought to reflect on questions concerning leadership, virtue, liberal education, and Catholic social thought. Promisel earned a PhD and an MA in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a BA in Government from the University of Virginia. He was a Mercatus Center Adam Smith Fellow during the 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20 academic years, and a Mercatus Center James Buchanan Fellow during the 2022 calendar year.
