Katherine Boyle Joins the Mercatus Center Board of Directors

ARLINGTON, VA. — The Mercatus Center at George Mason University is pleased to announce the addition of Katherine Boyle to its board of directors, effective January 2023.

“Since its inception, the Mercatus Center has been a convening force for serious free market scholarship, ideas and thinkers,” Boyle said. “It's a privilege to support the important work and conversations that Mercatus is leading to promote abundance, civility and dynamism.”

Boyle is a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), a leading venture capital firm. In her role, she invests in companies that promote American Dynamism across industries including housing, education, and manufacturing. Before joining a16z, Boyle was a partner at the venture capital firm General Catalyst and previously, she worked as a reporter and general staff writer at The Washington Post.

“Katherine is principled and pragmatic, with direct experience supporting entrepreneurs and building innovative companies,” said Tyler Cowen, Faculty Director of the Mercatus Center and Chairman of the Board. “Her keen understanding of public policy and the drivers of economic growth make her a welcome addition to the Mercatus Center.”

Founded in 1980 at George Mason University, the Mercatus Center is an academic research center that generates knowledge and understanding of the institutions that affect individuals’ freedom to prosper. Mercatus builds this understanding through identifying and developing talent, conducting research, and advancing ideas that offer solutions to societal and public policy problems.
