Tyler Cowen Named to Inaugural TIME100 Philanthropy List

The Mercatus Center is proud to share that Tyler Cowen has been named to the inaugural 2025 TIME100 Philanthropy list. The list recognizes 100 individuals who are reimagining the ways giving can drive meaningful change.

TIME highlights Cowen’s leadership of Emergent Ventures, a fellowship and grant program housed at Mercatus that backs entrepreneurial thinkers and doers with extraordinary potential. Since its launch, Emergent Ventures has funded over a thousand individuals around the world—many of them still teenagers— who are advancing work who are advancing work across a wide array of fields, including science, policy, and journalism.

TIME’s profile highlights the program’s fast, low-friction model for identifying and supporting talent, with funding decisions often delivered within weeks.
