What We’re Reading: March 9, 2018

Here’s a quick round-up of some of the links shared by Mercatus Center scholars this week:

• David Beckworth highlighted a Bloomberg View debate between Conor Sen and Karl. W. Smith on the US labor market, along with a tweet from the Wall Street Journal’s David Harrison about the Federal Reserve’s full employment estimates.
• Veronique de Rugy called Katherine Mangu-Ward’s New York Times column on political discourse “excellent.”
• Adam A. Millsap shared the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly jobs report, noting the recent upward trend in labor force participation rates among prime working age men.
• Peter Boettke shared a lecture by Harvard University’s Lant Pritchett on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in development economics. Boettke also had some thoughts on Duke University basketball player Grayson Allen’s controversial foul in a game against North Carolina.
• Tyler Cowen shared his ten favorite science fiction novels, and an article in The Hill on Washington’s passage of their own ‘state net neutrality’ laws.
• Daniel Griswold enjoyed Ed Gerwin’s Wall Street Journal commentary, “In America’s Absence, the TPP Goes On,” and shared the Washington Post’s fact check on the administration’s claims regarding US tariff levels.
