2:00 pm: State Spending & Budget Solutions Panel

States throughout the union are gearing up for another tough legislative session dealing with budget shortfalls . Though falling revenue and rising costs were the proximate cause of these shortfalls, the fiscal problems were years in the making. They were the result of decades of unsustainable spending growth.  How can states get back on track? This panel discussion will address institutions that limit spending, identify budget gimmicks, and a look into some potential federal entitlements that will significantly affect the states.

This panel will be featuring Eileen Norcross, Matthew Mitchell, and Jason J. Fichtner of the Mercatus Center.

3:00 pm: Break-Out Strategy Groups

A.) Public Sector Pension with Eileen Norcross
B.) Tools to Cut State Spending with Matt Mitchell
C.) Effect of Federal Entitlements on the States with Jason Fichtner
