May 19, 2014 – The Mercatus Center at George Mason University announced today that Daniel Rothschild will join the organization as senior vice president and chief operating officer effective June 2, 2014.

Rothschild rejoins the Mercatus Center where he worked from 2005 to 2011. While with Mercatus he coordinated all aspects of two major research projects: the Gulf Coast Recovery Project and the State and Local Policy Project, and also helped develop the Mercatus Masters Fellowship program. After leaving Mercatus in 2011, he headed up external affairs and coalitions strategies for the American Enterprise Institute and was senior fellow and director of state projects for the R Street Institute.

“We are excited to have Dan rejoin the Mercatus Center in this new role,” says Director Tyler Cowen, “He’s proven his ability to build effective programs and his experience with Mercatus along with his recent accomplishments bring a continuity of operations and sophistication of strategy to help Mercatus write our next chapter.”

Rothschild has a bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College, a master’s degree from the University of Manchester, and a master’s degree in public policy from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan.
