Former SEC Deputy General Counsel Vollmer Joins Mercatus

The Mercatus Center at George Mason University is pleased to welcome Andrew Vollmer as a Senior Affiliated Scholar. Mr. Vollmer joins Mercatus’ financial regulation team, focusing on securities regulation and the work of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

“The Mercatus Center has a tradition of making valuable contributions on current issues in the regulation of capital and financial markets,” said Mr. Vollmer. “I look forward to being part of that effort.”

Mr. Vollmer served as deputy general counsel at the SEC from 2006 to early 2009. During his tenure, he was involved in a variety of initiatives, including the SEC's participation in several Supreme Court cases and the proposal, adoption, and defense of various rules. Most recently, from 2014 to mid-2019, Mr. Vollmer taught securities regulation and was the director of the John W. Glynn, Jr. Law and Business Program at the University of Virginia School of Law.
