Austrian economics in search of the entrepreneurial self
Originally published in The Review of Austrian Economics
In this response essay, I focus upon how Dekker’s theory of the self may be used to interpret entrepreneurial action, which has served as a faithful mainstay of the Austrian economics tradition. Consideration of the entrepreneurial self invites further examination of the intertwining roles of interest and emotions, ideas, and values, as well as the implications of formal and informal institutions in shaping entrepreneurial self-perceptions within complexifying economies, polities, and societies.
