Thomas Ressler

Outreach Associate

Thomas Ressler is an Outreach Associate at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. He leads the outreach efforts for the Program on Financial Regulation and the Program on Monetary Policy.

Previously, Ressler served as a financial journalist and editor for a specialized newsletter company in the metropolitan Washington, DC, area. Most recently, he covered mortgage lending and servicing, and the structured finance industry and the regulation thereof, along with Federal Reserve monetary policy and consumer protection issues from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Ressler was the editor or associate editor for a number of publications, including Inside Mortgage FinanceInside MBS & ABSInside the CFPBInside Regulatory StrategiesInside the GSEsInside Mortgage Trends, and Mortgage Market Update.

He received his Bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pittsburgh. Ressler did his graduate work at Northeastern University's School of Journalism in Boston, and at American University in Washington, DC. He is continuing his education by studying economics at George Mason University.

In his free time, Ressler studies Austrian economics, libertarian political thought, and public choice theory; plays jazz guitar; and maintains an active interest in physical fitness, meditation, and martial arts.
