Brendan McCord

Brendan McCord is the Mercatus Center’s first Entrepreneur in Residence. In the private sector, McCord was the founding CEO of two AI startups that were acquired for $400 million, founder of a quantitative hedge fund, and President of an AI lab within an investment holding company. In the public sector, McCord was the principal founder of the first applied AI organization for the U.S. Department of Defense and author of its first AI strategy. McCord earned a bachelor’s degree from MIT, a master’s degree from Harvard Business School, and is currently working on a master’s in political philosophy at St. John’s College as well as a PhD in political philosophy from the University of Leiden.
