Marco Izzia is a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned an MS in Real Estate & Urban Land Economics and a BA in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research explores how real estate private equity and public-private partnerships like Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Section 42 impact housing production and social relations in the built environment. Marco’s work extends beyond the academy, as a frequent contributor to the Catholic Impact Investing Collaborative, the Francesco Collaborative, and the Catholic Social Thought literature as both scholar and practitioner. He is also the founder of San Giuseppe Real Estate, a mission-driven real estate development firm and consultancy driving impact in housing production using a data-driven faith-based business model.
