The discipline, from Smith to Hayek, has taught us about the need to limit power to curb the predatory capabilities of mankind. And when we don’t heed its teachings, we don’t overturn the basic results that Adam Smith, J. B. Say, and F. A. Hayek arrived at about the power of the market to create wealth and of politics to destroy it.
