John Maier

John Maier is a research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. He is an Oxford-trained philosopher working on a book developing an original case for the strong and simple political norms favored by classical liberals. He is also a journalist who has written editorials for The Times and political and cultural commentary for UK outlets including The New Statesman, The Spectator, and The Critic. He has coauthored a philosophers’ amicus brief for the US Supreme Court case on women’s sports, subsequently published as a journal article, and has presented his philosophical work to university audiences in San Diego, Oxford, and London.
