John Maier

John Maier is a Research Fellow and Emerging Scholar at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. He is an Oxford-trained philosopher working on a book developing an original case for the strong and simple political norms favored by classical liberals. He’s also a journalist who has written editorials for The Times and political and cultural commentary for U.K. outlets, including The New Statesman, The Spectator, and The Critic. He recently co-authored a philosophers’ amicus brief for the US Supreme court case on women’s sports, soon to be published as a journal article, and has recently presented his philosophical work to university audiences in San Diego, Oxford and London.
