K.T. Brizek is a PhD student in History at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She earned an MA in Theology from the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception and a BA in History from Christendom College. Her research interests include the mutual influence of American culture and Catholicism in the United States as well as tensions within “modern” institutional identities. In particular, she studies when and how the American Catholic Church became “modern” and the consonances and tensions between the Church’s American and Catholic aspects of its identity.
