Maximilian Diemer is an MPhil student in History at the University of Oxford. He earned an MA in History from a joint program at Ludwig Maximilians University Munich and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and a BA in History and Political Science from Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. He was a Don Lavoie Fellow during the 2021-2022 academic year. He is interested in the emergence of bureaucracies alongside the court-driven state formation processes in Early Modern Europe, with a focus on the relations between aristocratic élite and court bureaucracies and army organisation in 17th and 18th century Europe.
