Tonia Williams is a DPhil student in Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford. She earned an MEd in Education from Harvard University and a BA in Psychological Science and French & Francophone Studies from Vassar College. Her research focuses on literacy in the Jamaican context from a psycholinguistic perspective. In particular, it aims to explore the underlying linguistic and lexical mechanisms influencing literacy in Jamaican Patois-English bilinguals/bidialectals, focusing on phonological and semantic overlaps and distinctions between the languages.
