“It’s important to realize this is not just about President Hosni Mubarak. It’s about a whole system that Mubarak has put into place,” said Goldstone. “It’s a system of controlling economic and political power.”
Goldstone says that oil prices are influenced more by growing populations and the lack of oil exploration than by the current events in Egypt.
“What’s happening in the Middle East shouldn’t affect the global economy unless it really spirals out of control,” said Goldstone.
