Screening of IOUSA for Congressional Staff

Maurice P. McTigue

Vice President, Outreach

The new year brings considerable challenges for the 111th Congress and President-elect Barack Obama. Just two weeks before Inauguration Day, our nation is faced with the difficult task of turning our economy around, while continuing to endure the stresses caused by war, increased international competition, and mounting federal debt.

To consider how best to deal with the impending crisis, the Capitol Hill Campus Program of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University and the Peter G. Peterson Foundation hold a special screening of the feature documentary I.O.U.S.A. and a panel discussion featuring former U.S. Comptroller General & Peter G. Peterson Foundation President David Walker and the Honorable Maurice McTigue, Mercatus Center Vice President, who addresses America's rapidly growing national debt and the consequences for the U.S. economy.

From the producers of Wordplay and the studio that brought you Supersize Me, I.O.U.S.A. helps demystify the nation's financial practices and policies and paints a vivid and alarming profile of America's current economic situation and drives home the message that the time to begin addressing America's financial future is now.
