US to unveil austerity plans to tackle deficit

"I don't think now is the time to raise taxes on anybody in this slow growth economy," said Fichtner.  "If you look at CBO estimates, we could actually get to a balanced budget by 2020 by just holding the growth of spending to 2% a year or less, and that even accounts for allowing the Bush-era tax reforms to stay in place."
