Ben Fan is a PhD student in Philosophy at the University of Maryland, College Park. He earned an MA in Philosophy from Biola University and a BA in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He was an Adam Smith Fellow during the 2022-2023 academic year. His research interests lie at the intersection of voting and polarization. In particular, his research explores how voting mechanisms function with respect to polarization and consider normative questions such as how voters ought to respond to being polarized.
