Ekaterina (Katya) Moiseeva is a PhD student in Criminology, Law, & Society at the University of California, Irvine. She earned a PhD in Sociology from the Higher School of Economics, an MA in Sociology from the European University at Saint Petersburg, and a BA in Sociology from Lomonosov Moscow State University. Her research interests include the construction of legality and the social mechanics of the legalization process. Her dissertation is focused on the legalization of cannabis in California and uses both quantitative and qualitative data to explore the peculiarities of the formation of the legal cannabis market.
