Joseph Clarkson is a PhD student in Political Science at the University of Notre Dame. He earned an MA in Political Science from University of Notre Dame and a BA in Classics, German, & Philosophy from Baylor University. His research recovers Hermann Heller’s account of political unity in the modern state, placing it in critical dialogue with Carl Schmitt’s constitutional theory.
