    Elinor Ostrom Fellow

Elliot Bowers is a PhD student in Visual Arts: Philosophy, Aesthetics, & Art Theory at the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts. He earned an MFA in Sculpture & Art Theory from Northern Illinois University and a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He was a Don Lavoie Fellow during the 2022-2023 academic year. His research interests include social classification and gender studies. In particular, his work argues that the concept of "other" serves as a bridge to "the unknown," resulting in connection with transgender persons and transhumans, thereby synthesizing the illusion of absolute identity.
