Dr. Erwin Dekker is Senior Fellow with the F.A. Hayek Program for Advanced Study in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics and a Senior Research Fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. Formerly, he was an Assistant Professor of Cultural Economics at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam.

His research focuses on the history of economics, the methodology and philosophy of economics, political economy, and economic sociology. He is currently working on a cultural history of social thought in Chicago between 1920 and 1970. 

He has published numerous books, including Realizing the Values of Art (Palgrave Macmillan, 2023), Jan Tinbergen (1903-1994) and the Rise of Economic Expertise (Cambridge University Press, 2021), and The Viennese Students of Civilization: The Meaning and Context of Austrian Economics Reconsidered (Cambridge University Press, 2016).
