Frédéric Sautet

Dr. Frédéric Sautet is a former Senior Research Fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. He is also the former senior editor of the Mercatus Policy Series. In addition to his role at Mercatus, Dr. Sautet was adjunct professor of economics in the MA program at George Mason University. He is currently Visiting Associate Professor of Economics at The Catholic University of America.

Discovery, Capitalism, and Distributive Justice makes Kirzner’s case for the idea that entrepreneurial profit is both essential for an economy and profoundly just. Asserting that the problem with standard criticism of capitalist income distribution is a failure to see capitalism as a “discovery procedure,” Kirzner argues that production and subsequent profit are neither automatic nor guaranteed.

Prior-Knowledge and Opportunity Identification

Although entrepreneurship research has acknowledged the role that prior information and prior knowledge play in opportunity recognition, few studies have explored their role in entrepreneurial discovery. The authors test the role of a particular prior knowledge in entrepreneurial discovery within a laboratory setting.
