Mercatus is taking on the “China Challenge.” Mercatus research shows how the United States can engage with other great powers, including major authoritarian regimes around the world, in a way that is both market-preserving and liberty-preserving. Neither blunt-force measures like import tariffs nor “romantic engagement” that overlooks security consequences will achieve this goal.
