Bootleggers and Baptists: A Conversation With Bruce Yandle

Reason.tv recently interviewed the Mercatus Center's Bruce Yandle on "bootleggers and Baptists," a theoretical framework he developed while serving as the Executive Director of the Federal Trade Commission in the early 1980s.

As the theory explains, when Baptists lobby for heavier regulation of alcohol, it's the bootleggers that benefit from their efforts. Reason's Paul Feine sat down with Yandle to talk about modern day examples of this phenomenon.
